Account audit

An audit of accounts consists of a review and verification carried out on accounting statements, whether they are the annual accounts of an entity, its financial statements and/or any other accounting documents formulated in accordance with the provisions of the Commercial Code, the General Accounting Plan and the standards established by the Accounting and Auditing Institute.

The work that the accounts auditor must carry out consists of applying procedures agreed with the client and, where appropriate, with interested third parties, reporting on the specific facts detected. It is not an account audit work in the strict sense, although audit techniques are applied, and it is usually the addressee who must draw their own conclusions about the work carried out.
